The Investigative Committee is investigating a case of theft of 44.5 million rubles from military units in St. Petersburg and the Moscow region

The Investigative Committee has completed a preliminary investigation into the case of embezzlement from the storage facilities of military units in St. Petersburg and the Moscow Region. This was stated by the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

“The preliminary investigation has been completed in a criminal case in which six people are accused of stealing from the storage facilities of military units and institutions located in St. Petersburg and the Moscow Region, a total of 80 items of clothing with a total value of more than 44.5 million rubles,” said He.

According to him, the three defendants entered into pre-trial cooperation agreements. The criminal case against them was submitted for a decision on sending it to court. Three more continue to familiarize themselves with the case materials.

Bastrykin said that the Investigative Committee is also investigating other criminal cases initiated on the facts of theft of military property, but the investigation has not yet been completed.

In December 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to deal with the problem of equipping military personnel.

“About the problems with the equipment. It seemed to me that everything was already decided. However, if there is something else that requires our special attention, I would ask you to provide additional information. We will definitely deal with this, and as soon as possible, ”Putin said.
