The Russian Ministry of Defense officially recognized the participation of fighters from the Wagner PMC in the assault on Soledar

The Russian Ministry of Defense issued a "clarification" on the participation of various units in the battles for Soledar. In the message of the department in the official telegram channel, it is said that fighters of the Wagner PMC took part in the assault on the city.

“As for the direct assault on the city blocks of Soledar, this combat mission was successfully completed by the courageous and selfless actions of the volunteers of the Wagner PMC assault detachments,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Also in the report of the ministry it is reported that the offensive in this direction, “ending with the defeat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the capture of the city of Soledar”, was carried out by “a heterogeneous grouping of Russian troops according to a single plan and plan.”

Earlier this afternoon, the Ministry of Defense reported on the capture of the city, without mentioning the role of the Wagner PMC in it, which caused a surge of discussions on social networks.

The head of the so-called “League for the Protection of the Interests of Veterans of Local Wars and Military Conflicts,” Andrey Troshev, said: “I read the report of the Ministry of Defense with surprise. There was not a single paratrooper on Soledar, the paratroopers themselves confirm this. Soledar was taken solely by the efforts of the Wagner PMC fighters. And there is no need to offend the fighters by humiliating their merit. You are demotivating them."

Evgeny Prigozhin commented on the daily report of the Ministry of Defense in the following way: “All your questions, of course, pay tribute to the soldiers who participated in the heroic capture of Soledar. And these questions, of course, will need answers, but not now. The boat is rocking."

At the same time, the speaker of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergei Cherevaty , told RBC-Ukraine that Russian troops had not captured Soledar. According to him, fighting in the city continues.
