The police of Ingushetia refused to initiate a criminal case of torture (Article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and illegal deprivation of liberty (Article 127 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against relatives of Leila Gireeva, who escaped from the Republic. Details. Police officers of the Nazranovsky district did not specify why they refused to institute criminal proceedings against Gireeva's relatives. The girl’s lawyer Mark Alekseev confirmed Fontanka that he was going to appeal the decision of law enforcement agencies in the Supreme Court of Ingushetia.

The girl was also put on the federal wanted list under the theft article. Subsequently, Mark Alekseev filed a complaint according to which Leila's case is conducted with significant violations. In particular, Gireeva’s relatives are associated with law enforcement agencies, the human rights project “Marem” reported .

Leila filed an application with the police in early December. She accused her relatives of violence.
