The funeral of Vakhtang Kikabidze took place in Tbilisi

In Georgia today, the legendary actor, singer, people's artist of Georgia and Ukraine Vakhtang Kikabidze was buried. Thousands of people came to the main concert hall of Tbilisi - the Philharmonic to take Bubu on the last journey, as he is called with love in their homeland. He died on January 15 at the age of 84.

During the entire ceremony, Kikabidze songs sounded, and fragments from his films were shown on the screen.

The Minister of Culture of Ukraine Alexander Tkachenko, who came to the funeral of Kikabidze, read out the message of Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky at the farewell ceremony.

" Ukrainians thank Vakhtang Kikabidze for support in the fight against the Russian aggressor. The name of Vakhtang Kikabidze will be inscribed in the history of Ukraine as the name of the great Georgian who has contributed to the independence and sovereignty of Ukraine. We will always remember this and will never forget ," the ambassador of the Ukrainian president says.

Tkachenko also turned to the audience in Georgian.

" During the Russian -Ukrainian war, when fighters, rescuers, doctors, artists dies in our country, they say that the heroes do not die. It fully concerns Vakhtang Kikabidze. Heroes do not die, a bright memory ," the Ukrainian minister said.

After the farewell ceremony, the coffin was brought to the applause of hundreds of Tbilisi residents gathered on the street. People went after Katafalk to the Veriyskoye cemetery, where the artist at his own request was buried next to the grave of his mother. The ceremony was attended by famous artists, as well as veterans of the Georgian Legion, which is fighting in Ukraine. [Fancy_gallery Gallery = 0]
