The "First Department" published a resolution on the initiation of a criminal case against the anti-fascist Savely Frolov, which mentions the "Freedom of Russia" legion. According to human rights activists, this may mean that Russia recognizes its existence.
“Frolov S.A. using his mobile phone connected to the information network “Internet”… he found an unidentified representative of the Ukrainian armed formation “Legion of Freedom of Russia” (hereinafter referred to as “Legion”)”, and then tried to leave for Ukraine “in order to join the armed formation “Legion “and participation in hostilities,” the resolution says.
The First Department notes that until now, at the official level, Russia has not recognized the existence of this armed formation, and many experts and the media doubted that such a formation is really taking part in hostilities.
Human rights activists asked fellow journalists to send a request to the department, which should clarify the official position of the Ministry of Defense regarding the existence of the Freedom of Russia legion.
Savely Frolov was going to come to Georgia on October 30th. But he never got to her - he was detained at the Upper Lars checkpoint, after which he was arrested for 15 days for "petty hooliganism." In December, Frolov became a suspect under an article on treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code).
