On January 13, Anna Karetnikova, a leading analyst in the Moscow department of the Federal Penitentiary Service, left Russia due to pressure from the leadership of the department. Karetnikova herself told the Agency and Mediazone about this.

Karetnikova leads the telegram channel "Stengazeta SIZO" . In it, she talks about visits to the pre-trial detention center and the life of prisoners. More than 500 people have subscribed to it.

“I left because I was warned that in connection with my activities I was in big trouble. That important people around [me] are unhappy. And that a lot of communication awaits me in the prosecutor's office and somewhere else, ”said Karetnikova. She spoke with employees of the security department of the Federal Penitentiary Service. Their complaint was that she “generally writes”: “They said that I have no right to distribute any information. This can be done by the press service.”

Also, the security department of the department was dissatisfied with the fact that Karetnikova handed over pens and threads to those under investigation held in the pre-trial detention center. The Telegram channel and such broadcasts were deemed “not in line with the job description.”

On January 12, on the day of the conversation with the security department, Karetnikova was not allowed into the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center. After that, she left for France.
