In Stavropol, a teacher at the Yermolov cadet school hit a 12-year-old teenager with a whip. The police opened a criminal case, and the parents of some students came to the defense of the teacher.

Denis Serba from Stavropol published a photo of his 12-year-old son's back with a large red scar. The man wrote that the teenager was hit by a 38-year-old officer, a life safety teacher Yevgeny Shmakov, for some petty offense.

He also told reporters that when they enter the school, parents allegedly sign some kind of agreement, which says that teachers can use the whip to punish children.

“When we entered the school, each parent signed an agreement that the officer has the right, at his own discretion, if the child is guilty, to give a whip. It's like an educational measure. And every parent signed up, but of course we didn't know that it would be so. They thought: they’ll scare, and that’s all, ”Victory 26 edition quotes the words of Denis Serba.

The scandal quickly gained momentum. The prosecutor's office and the police launched an investigation. Shmakov, as well as the deputy director for military educational work, were fired from the school, and the director himself, Nikolai Panin, received a reprimand.

Later, Shmakov told reporters that cadets are not beaten at school, and the incident with a sixth grader happened by accident. According to the teacher, the student insulted and brought to tears a seriously ill teacher, after which he received a reprimand.

“Yes, in an elevated and emotional tone, but without going beyond a constructive dialogue! At the time of the conversation, I had a whip in my hand, folded in half. Expressing my dissatisfaction and indignation at what was going on in the classroom, I periodically tapped on the tabletops of the desks of zealous violators of discipline. At some point, the free end of the whip slipped out of his hand and involuntarily lashed one of the students on the back,” Shmakov said.

After journalists became interested in this story, the student's father deleted his post and recorded a video in which he asked that the incident be considered settled.

“I understand how hard it is to work with children. The officer, as a man, is like this (shows his thumb), but as a teacher, he made a fatal mistake - he took and hit the child. Yes, I couldn’t cope with my emotions, sometimes it’s really hard. Guys, let's be adequate, the officer has already received his lesson and his punishment - he was fired, a criminal case was opened against him, but nothing more, ”Serba said.

At the same time, in a school chat, many parents wrote that they consider such methods of education to be correct. In particular, the mother of one of the schoolchildren said that she could “pour extra” into the child “for what he indulged in and received.”
