"Take me instead of her." The son of Zarema Musaeva, who was kidnapped by Chechen security forces a year ago, offered Kadyrov an exchange

Chechen opposition leader Abubakar Yangulbaev recorded a video message in which he said that his mother's health was deteriorating, and he no longer believed that publicity in the media would help her rescue.

“It has been a year since Kadyrov kidnapped and is holding my mother hostage. <...> It is hard for her to be in prison and she should not be there in any case. She should not be held responsible for the actions of her sons. And you, if a man, Kadyrov, if you consider yourself the personification of the maximum masculinity in this country, you must let her go. And since it happened in our country, and there is a war, the laws do not work in Russia and they do not work in Chechnya, but the rules of war apply, then let's exchange it for me. Don't touch women. Take me instead of her,” said Yangulbaev.

He also suggested that the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, choose the one who would become the neutral guarantor of the exchange.

“Everything is dead in the country. But it's not my mother's fault. Release her in exchange for me! And you can torture me every day, mock me, kill me, resurrect me and do it all over again,” Yangulbaev wrote on his Telegram channel.

Zarema Musaeva is the wife of the former federal judge of Chechnya, Saidi Yangulbaev, and the mother of three Chechen oppositionists. On January 20, 2022, Chechen security forces broke into an apartment in Nizhny Novgorod, forcibly took the woman out of the house and took her to Grozny. Musayeva was later arrested and accused of assaulting a police officer.
