A guard beat up the author of “Protest MSU”, Dmitry Ivanov, in court. He tried to push his head into the toilet and threatened him with sexualized violence

Mathematics student and author of the Protest MSU telegram channel Dmitry Ivanov, who is accused in the case of “fakes” about the Russian army, was beaten by a guard after a meeting in the Timiryazevsky District Court of Moscow, Ivanov’s lawyer Maria Eismont reports.

On January 18, Ivanov waited for Eismont to agree with the judge on the next dates for the hearings. He also wanted to ask the lawyer when she would visit him. At this time, the guard "rather rudely" broke into Ivanov's aquarium and tried to pull him out of there. According to Eismont, Ivanov asked the employee to let him listen to “two minutes”, but he wringed his hands and took him away.

The next day, Ivanov told the lawyer that the guard lowered him down the stairs, turned off the video recorder and beat him on the head and ribs, including kicking and with a truncheon, and also wringing his hands behind his back in the corridor of the convoy premises. Eismont suggested that Ivanov was beaten in such a way as to "leave no traces." The doctor in the pre-trial detention center recorded only small hematomas on his wrists.

Ivanov also added that the security officer tried to lower his head into the toilet and threatened that he would "put a stick into his anus." The second employee "observed" this and "did not act".

Ivanov was arrested in the “fake” case in June 2022. He is accused of disseminating “knowingly false” information about the Russian army based on political hatred (Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code).
