Petersburgers collect signatures in defense of the garden on Sytninskaya
Residents of the Petrograd side organized a collection of signatures under the appeal to the authorities of St. Petersburg with a demand to preserve the public garden on the corner of the Sytninsky and Kronverkskaya streets.
The authors of the initiative pay attention to the fact that the garden on Sytninskaya is a historical place where until 1942 the Lutheran Church of St. Mary stood. In 2014, a large burial of the first builders of the city was also found there, where the remains of more than 250 people were preserved. The remains were removed and reburied in the cemetery in Kolpin.
Locals are sure that at least the preserved foundations of the Church should be under the protection of the authorities. And they offer the first builders of the city to erect a monument in the square.

The public garden on the wasteland on the corner of the Sytninsky and Kronverkian citizens was organized in May 2021 to turn the location into a friendly place for citizens and protect against possible development. The wasteland is owned by St. Petersburg Bank, in August 2022 the city authorities transferred it to the business development zone.
In November 2022, local residents turned to the chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin with a request to protect the wasteland. As reported by the city-protective telegram channel “SOS SPb Demolis”, the defenders of the square soon notified the beginning of a pre-investigation verification of their approval. There is no information about its results.
