Norwegian police have released the former commander of a Wagner PMC soldier who was executed with a sledgehammer. He was detained after illegally crossing the border

The police released Andrey Medvedev, a former Wagner PMC fighter who had previously illegally crossed the Norwegian border and asked for political asylum. It is reported by NRK.

The acting head of the legal department of the police immigration unit, Jon Andreas Johansen, told the publication that Medvedev was released because there were no grounds for his further detention.

Medvedev himself, according to his lawyer, plans to find housing outside Trandum. The defender does not know about his future plans.

Former Wagner PMC fighter Andrei Medvedev, under whose command Yevgeny Nuzhin, who was executed with a sledgehammer, fought, was able to get to Norway in mid-January and request political asylum there. As explained in the press service of the directorate for foreigners, his case will be considered in the usual manner.

Earlier, Medvedev told reporters that he was aware of at least ten extrajudicial executions of Wagner PMC fighters. At the same time, according to him, at least two of those executed were not former prisoners.

Under the command of Medvedev, Evgeny Nuzhin fought in the ranks of the Wagner PMC, a former prisoner recruited by the Wagner PMC. Once at the front, he was captured by Ukrainians, after which he declared that he was ready to fight on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Later, as part of a prisoner exchange, he was returned to Russia, where he was executed with a sledgehammer.
