The British Foreign Office has confirmed the death of two British volunteers Chris Parry and Andrew Bagshaw in eastern Ukraine.

The disappearance of these two employees of the British charity became known on 6 January. They were last seen in the Soledar area, where heavy fighting was going on.

Relatives of the dead volunteers said that Bagshaw and Parry died when they tried to evacuate an elderly woman from the shelling. An artillery shell hit the car in which they were traveling.

Earlier, representatives of PMC Wagner reported that they found the body of one of the British in Soledar.

“His selfless desire to help the old, the young and the underprivileged made all of us, his extended family, proud of him. We never thought that we would have to say goodbye to Chris, because he had his whole life ahead of him. He was a caring son, a fantastic brother, a best friend to many, and Olga's loving partner," Chris Parry's family said in a statement.

“Andrew selflessly risked his own life more than once and saved a lot of people. We love him and are very proud of what he has done. The world must strongly support Ukraine, provide it with the military assistance that it now needs, and help with the restoration of the destroyed country after the war, ”the parents of Andrew Bagshaw commented on the death of their son.

Shortly before his disappearance, Chris Parry, who was then near Bakhmut, said in an interview with BBC Radio Cornwall 2 that he was primarily driven by the desire to help children.

“Helping them get out of the war zone is definitely the most important thing,” Parry said at the time.
