A court in Astrakhan blocked publications about the war in LiveJournal

On December 30, the Akhtubinsky District Court of the Astrakhan Region blocked several pages in LiveJournal, which, according to the military prosecutor of the Znamensky garrison, contained false information about the war in Ukraine. The court reviewed six lawsuits and blocked 12 publications by several LiveJournal authors. The publications are blocked due to the fact that they contain “socially significant information of a political nature that does not correspond to reality and contains false information about the special military operation being carried out by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics,” as well as information aimed at discrediting use of the RF Armed Forces.

• After the start of the war with Ukraine, Roskomnadzor demanded that the media write about the war in Ukraine only with reference to official Russian sources. Journalists were also prohibited from calling the “Russian special operation” an attack, invasion, or declaration of war. Otherwise, the supervisory authority threatened with blocking and fines of up to five million rubles.
• According to Roskomsvoboda, as of December 28, for reasons of military censorship, Roskomnadzor has already blocked more than 9,000 sites, and in total in 2022, 247,492 thousand Internet resources were added to the register of banned sites. “After the start of the ‘special military operation’, we strengthened our counteraction to the spread of calls for extremism and terrorism, mass unrest and ‘fake’ news on the Internet,” Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov previously stated in an interview with Kommersant.
• Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, VKontakte has been massively blocking the pages of opposition activists and politicians , as well as the public pages of independent publications and communities . Similar blockings were carried out by Odnoklassniki . In some cases, Telegram channels and podcasts on the Yandex.Music and SoundStream platforms were also blocked.
