The Ministry of Justice asked the court to liquidate the human rights organization “Man and the Law”

The Ministry of Justice sent a lawsuit to the Supreme Court of Mari El to liquidate the human rights organization "Man and Law". About this with reference to the chairman of the organization Irina Protasova write "Idel.Realii".

Protasova noted that the suit of the Ministry of Justice mainly lists the claims of officials from the act of an unscheduled inspection, which took place in December 2022. Then the inspectors made a conclusion about the political nature of the organization's activities.

Human rights activists tried to appeal the act of an unscheduled inspection, but the court stopped consideration of this complaint last week.

In December 2019, the Ministry of Justice already applied to the court demanding the liquidation of the human rights organization. But in 2020, the Supreme Court of Mari El dismissed the claim, the Fourth Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction approved the decision and did not liquidate the "Man and the Law".

• "Man and Law" is a human rights organization in Mari El, founded in 1999. The main directions of its activity are the protection of the rights of civil activists, the rights of children, the rights of prisoners, the protection of human rights from illegal actions by the authorities. In 2014, the project was included in the register of non-profit organizations acting as a foreign agent.
• The Ministry of Justice regularly demands the liquidation of human rights organizations. So, in 2019, the Supreme Court, at the suit of the department, liquidated the human rights organization For Human Rights.
