One of the main centers of the United States on the study of public opinion by Pew Research has published the results of a fresh survey about the attitude of Americans towards the help of Ukraine. As it turned out, in comparison with the start of the invasion, new tranches aimed at supporting Ukraine cause less enthusiasm.
If in March 2022 respondents who answered that the United States is not “not enough” to help Ukraine, there were 42%, now there are more than half as much - only 20%. The number of those who are satisfied with the existing level of supplies has not changed, decreasing by only one percent compared to last spring (from 31 to 30%). But those who believe that there are already too many assistance has already become almost four times more: instead of 7% of last spring, 26% in January 2023.
At the same time, the reduction in the level of support of Ukraine occurred mainly due to voters of the Republican Party: among them the fall is much sharper. For example, if in March 2022 only 7% of the Republicans believed that the United States helps Ukraine too much, now there are already 40%. In a similar way, the activities of the Presidential Administration Joe Biden on the support of Ukraine approves 61% of the democrats and only 27% of the Republicans. Nevertheless, a total of 43% approve of the Biden administration policy in relation to Ukraine and only 34% relate to it negatively.
The distribution of answers to the question has also changed whether respondents consider Russia a serious threat to the interests of the United States. In January 2022, shortly before the invasion, there were an average of 26%, approximately equal to the Democrats and Republicans. Immediately after the start of the invasion, in March of 2022, the percentage of Americans who perceive the Russian Federation as a danger to double, to 50%, and by January 2023 fell-but much more among the Republicans than among the democrats. 43% of President Biden still consider Russia the main threat, while among the Republicans there are about 27% again - about the same as before the invasion.
