Maria Revyakina left the post of director of the state Theater of Nations, which she headed since 2012. Natalya Mazur, who was previously deputy director, was appointed to her place. The theater's press service emphasized that Revyakina left of her own free will.

Revyakina herself told RBC that the resignation letter was signed on January 20. She explained her departure by saying that she did not want to “stay too long.”

“When Evgeny Mironov [the theater’s artistic director] invited me ten years ago, he and I set the task of making the theater modern, open to different tastes and trends, so that there would be good direction. Now the Theater of Nations is one of the most advanced theaters in terms of management level,” said Revyakina.

She also commented on the appointment of a new director, noting that she herself invited Mazur to work eight years ago and even then said that she would head the theater in the future. “She is a very capable person, knows how to organize people, and also knows how to recruit, so everything is in order,” Revyakina added.
