The Ministry of Justice added the authors of the novel “Summer in a Pioneer Tie” to the register of “foreign agents”

The Ministry of Justice recognized Ekaterina Dudko and Elena Prokasheva as “foreign agents”. Meduza writes that they are the authors of the books “What the Swallow is Silent About” and “Summer in a Pioneer Tie.”

Also included in the register are blogger Nikolai Sobolev, Popular Politics presenter Alexander Makashenets, and municipal deputy from St. Petersburg and coordinator of the Free Ingria movement Pavel Mezerin.

According to the Ministry of Justice, Sobolev spoke in support of Ukraine and distributed materials from other “foreign agents”, Makashenets “promoted sanctions lists” against Russian citizens, and Mezerin called for separatism. Dudko and Prokasheva, according to the department, “promoted LGBT relationships.”

The novel “Summer in a Pioneer Tie” tells the story of the love between pioneer Yura and counselor Volodya in the camp in the summer of 1986. “What the Swallow is Silent About” is its continuation, where the heroes meet again after 20 years. When publishing it, the authors used pseudonyms - Elena Malisova and Katerina Silvanova. The book was published by Popcorn Books, to the list of “foreign agents” in October whose directors were also added .

In the summer, State Duma deputy from United Russia Elena Yampolskaya proposed introducing fines for the novel “Summer in a Pioneer Tie” and other works about homosexual teenagers. In December, Vladimir Putin signed a law banning “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relationships and gender reassignment.” For its violation, a fine of up to 5 million rubles is provided.

A few days before the law came into force, activists of the Khabarovsk “Council of Fathers” bought a batch of the books “Summer in a Pioneer Tie” and “What the Swallow is Silent About” and handed them over for recycling. In August, a similar action was carried out by the Nizhny Tagil branch of A Just Russia.
