Journalist Denis Styazhkin received political asylum in the United States

The former journalist of the Activatika portal and in the past, an opposition activist from Krasnoyarsk Denis Styazhkin officially received a political asylum in the United States after a year and three months of waiting. He reported this in his telegram channel.

In 2021, he requested refuge in the United States without a visa, immediately after crossing the border with Mexico. Styazhkin emigrated from Russia to the United States, having gone first to Turkey, and then to Mexico. There he met the family of the followers of the Church of Jehovah's Witnesses, bought a car with them and, hiding in it with the Krasnoyarsk activist of Navalny’s headquarters, crossed the border with the United States.

In the middle and at the end of the zero, Styazhkin was the organizer of the "marches of the disagreement" and the shares of "Strategy 31", and then became the coordinator of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Solidarity movement and entered the party Coordination Council on December 5. In 2011, Denis Styazhkin participated in protests against the cutting of the Khimkinsky forest, participated in pickets against Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine.

Working as a journalist, Denis Styazhkin has encountered pursuit of law enforcement officials many times.

He was repeatedly detained, tried several times, fined and seized equipment. To avoid criminal prosecution, Styazhkin left Russia in the summer of 2021.
