In 2015, the police in Bashkortostan arrested 23 Muslims - Rustema Latypova, Linara Vahitova, Radika Akhmetova, Fanisa Akhmetshina, Rustema Gallyamova, Rishata Gataullina, Ilgiza Gimaletdinova, Azamata Kayumova, Alexandra Korneva, Radmira Maksutova, Rinata Mamaeva, Farida Mustafaeva, Khalila Mustafina, Rinata Nurlygayanova, Artura Salimova, Ireka Tagirova, Aramisa Fazylova, Danisa Faizrakhmanova, Rafaela Fattahova, Ruslana Fattahova, Rustema Khamzina, Shamil Sharipova and Ural Yakupova - on charges of participation in the "terrorist organization" Hizb ut-Tahrir. In 2018, 20 of them were sentenced to terms of 8 to 24 years in a penal colony.
Memorial recognized all the defendants in this case as political prisoners.
