And on February 24, when it all began, they were surprised - "Who might have thought?!". They were convinced that it was true, scared, fled, hid ...
The "special operation" in Ukraine lasts almost a year. During this time, thousands of people died on both sides, entire cities were destroyed, millions of people became refugees.
But now, before our eyes, preparations for even larger military operations are in full swing. At the same time, all the key participants are Moscow, Kyiv, Washington, Brussels, NATO, and with them crowds of militarized fans sitting in cafes and restaurants, hotels and cozy apartments, like numerous Internet media
Everyone requires the continuation of hostilities, fantasize about some victories, captures and fractures, and campaign for new offenses.
“Thinkers”-models from the still far-in calling for sure to continue military operations to the victorious end, tell on the pages of famous magazines about “beautiful parliamentary Russia of the future” and “demonstrative trials”. "Analysts" smartly and coldly clarify that there is no request for the world yet ...
And again, as a year ago, almost no one understands - or is afraid to pronounce aloud - that the dangers are growing very seriously and that what is happening, that is, the continuation of hostilities, in principle, has no positive prospect. No!
If all this is continued:
There will be new thousands of dead;
Destruction will become critical: the economy in the zone of active hostilities and on the adjacent large area will be decisively irreversibly destroyed;
The flow of unlimited foreign assistance to Ukraine now with an increase in the scale of destruction will inevitably weaken;
The economic problems generated by military operations will be much more difficult than even the military, and many are insoluble;
critical destruction of human potential will occur, which will become the main irreparable consequence of escalation;
The risks of turning the growing conflict into a world war will become (and already become) prohibitively high.
It is important to understand that in the 21st century the situation and well -being of the state and its citizens more depends not on territories or even on natural resources, but on what place the country occupies in the world. We live in an era when human capital plays a key role. The future of the nation depends on people, their freedom, their work and education.
And do not draw parallels between what is happening in Ukraine now and the events of World War II.
Never in the past is a nuclear power to be a participant in a major military clash, which affects its life interests and prospects. This is a real threat.
Putin used to speak nuclear weapons before and recently more than once. Do not drive the situation in a corner. It is necessary to stop.
It is known that many territorial conflicts have no end. There is only one successful example of the territorial world - this is the European Union. The unification of the European states made politically indifferent, on whose territory Alsace and Lorraine are now located, for the right to possess the territory of which many thousands of French and Germans have developed their lives. The idea adopted by all participants in the European Union, according to which human life, its dignity and its rights are valued higher than any national boundaries, has become the key to the world in Europe.
This is precisely the meaning of modern life. Sooner or later, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus will come to this - to peaceful coexistence with each other and with other European countries. This is a non -alternative path to the world. But this path is complex and long.
What to do now? Stop! Everything else is stupid and very dangerous illusions.
Conclude an agreement on a ceasefire. Stop killing people!
The conclusion of an agreement on the ceasefire is not about the contract, not about the world, and not even about the truce or large -scale dialogue. This is a political requirement aimed at saving lives. This is the main thing today.
The ceasefire agreement is the most preliminary, the very first step towards any start of settlement. While fighting is going on and people die, no attempts at discussion or negotiations make sense. Therefore, in the circumstances, the ceasefire agreement is inevitably the first step for any at least some positive development of events.
The ceasefire agreement is a political requirement, the implementation of which entirely depends on the desire and understanding of people who make decisions. In practice, it can only be implemented if at least Putin, Zelensky, Biden and the EU and NATO leadership will want to do this. But the problem is that none of them now show such a desire. To date, all parties intend to continue large -scale military operations, mistakenly counting on a military victory, which in modern conditions is inaccessible to anyone. Therefore, we must insist: a ceasefire must be! If this does not happen, the consequences will be catastrophic and, most likely, as already mentioned, irreversibly destructive.
And most importantly, people who are living in this disaster are never returning in this disaster: not a one and a half year old Makar and a 15-year-old Ani from the Dnieper, nor 5-year-old Milan from Donetsk, nor 9-year-old Ivan and 8-year-old Nina from Yeysk.
The continuation of hostilities in any form - offensive or positional - does not bode of any positive development of events either for Russia, Ukraine, or for Western countries. Continuation is an endless and irreparable tragedy. To finish the conflict “on the battlefield”, as some dream, it will not work. The state of Putin will stop at anything. Russia will not become powerless as a result of this <...>. She will remain one of the two largest nuclear powers of the world.
But to deprive the prospects of Ukraine, which over the past year, according to all world experts, “for the first time in modern history has become a large state in Central Europe,” questioning the possibility of restoring its economy due to military operations, is quite possible. No need to bring to this.
Today it is quite obvious that you need to stop all this. All. And after that try to talk. The main thing is that at this time they will not kill people.
This is the only way to discuss territorial issues, borders, the movement of troops ... Then we will need diplomacy - tough, difficult, with failures and restrictions. We all found ourselves in a situation in which we still had only bad options or even worse. There are no good options now.
However, there is still an option when you can do without new colossal victims - it is immediately to stop hostilities. And the requirement to use this option should now be presented by anyone who does not want to kill innocent people and does not want to do this on his behalf. Bring your position by all available means.
Scream on every corner: think the way! Stop!
