Roszdravnadzor suggested using non-original parts for repairing medical equipment

Due to sanctions against Russia, Roszdravnadzor proposed to allow hospitals and clinics to repair medical equipment using non-original spare parts from September 2023. The text of the order was published on the federal portal of regulatory acts, and drew attention to it. Kommersant

According to the international association IMEDA, which the newspaper refers to, most of the medical equipment in Russia, especially when it comes to CT, MRI and ultrasound, was brought from the USA, Europe or Asia. Typically, such equipment is repaired in service centers located in the country of production, Kommersant clarifies.

According to a report from Roszdravnadzor, due to economic restrictions, hospitals and clinics may have problems supplying original parts for equipment. In response to Western sanctions, in April 2022, the Russian government introduced restrictions on the export of medical equipment and other goods from the country.

Therefore, the service suggests using non-original spare parts for repair and maintenance of equipment. To do this, the owner of the medical equipment will also have to obtain consent from the manufacturer, which will confirm responsibility for possible harm to patients, writes Kommersant. Testing of the equipment will have to be carried out by VNIIIMT, which is subordinate to Roszdravnadzor.

At the same time , IMEDA told the newspaper that since the fall, some companies have been exporting medical equipment abroad for repairs and “the association is not aware of cases of refusal of technical service or refusal to return repaired equipment” to Russia.
