A criminal case was opened against a Yalta resident for “discrediting” the army because of shouts about war at a bus stop

A criminal case was opened against a 35-year-old resident of Yalta, who shouted at a bus stop about the war in Ukraine, for “discrediting” the army. This was reported on the website of the Crimean department of the Investigative Committee.

According to investigators, a Yalta resident drank “a few days ago” and at the Sadovaya stop shouted “slogans discrediting the activities of the Russian army” (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). Before this, he was fined twice under a similar administrative article (20.3.3 of the Administrative Code).

The department published a video from the investigator’s office in which the detainee admits guilt and says that he “repeatedly apologizes for the insults against the military.” His face is not blurred.

In the files of the Yalta City Court there is only one man who received two fines under “discredit” protocols. This is Igor Rylov, who in April was fined 30 thousand rubles for “uttering statements in a public place”, and soon - 35 thousand rubles for shouting “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to heroes!" on the morning of May 9.

In January 2023, the Crimean department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a press release, presumably dedicated to Rylov. It said that the unnamed 35-year-old Yalta resident never paid the fines imposed on him for “discrediting.”

Because of the arrest on May 9, as the Ministry of Internal Affairs wrote, protocols were also drawn up against the Yalta resident under articles of “petty hooliganism” and appearing drunk in public places (20.1, 20.21 of the Administrative Code). The news on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs came out on the day when the court - eight months later - made a decision on Rylov’s protocol for “petty hooliganism.”

There is an account on VKontakte of a Yalta resident with the same name. According to the profile, the man is also 35 years old. In the photographs he looks like the detainee whose video of apology was posted by the Investigative Committee.
