The leader of the “coastal partisans” died in Ukraine. He probably signed a contract with Wagner PMC

In Ukraine, the leader of the group of "seaside partisans" Alexander Kovtun died. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for attacks on policemen, and ended up at the front, probably by signing a contract with the Wagner PMC.

Officially, no one confirms the information about the death of Kovtun. The press service of the GUFSIN in Primorye, where he was serving his sentence, told Kommersant that "they do not have such data."

In 2010, so-called Primorye partisans attacked police officers in Primorsky Krai. The leader of the group Alexander Kovtun, as well as other members of the group, were accused of killing two policemen and four drug producers. In addition, the investigation established that they had injured six more police officers and also hijacked several cars.

Before the "partisans" were detained in June 2010, they recorded a video message in which they explained their actions by fighting against police brutality and corrupt employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In 2014, Kovtun was sentenced to life in prison, but in 2018 the sentence was commuted to 25 years in prison.
