Over the past two weeks, the number of confirmed losses of the Russian army in Ukraine has exceeded the usual weekly figures by five times, the BBC Russian Service found out together with Mediazona.
Throughout 2022, approximately 250-300 soldier deaths were reported weekly. In January, these figures doubled. Most of the dead in the last three months are mobilized, volunteers and prisoners.
According to publications, 29,500 Russian soldiers could have died during the invasion of Ukraine. If we add to this estimate the wounded and missing, then the total irretrievable losses of the Russian army can be at least 133 thousand people.
From open sources, the publications learned about the death of 1121 mobilized. 40% of them have died since January 1, 2023.
