Former broadcast director of the pro-government RT TV channel, Anton Krasovsky, was sentenced in absentia to five years in prison and confiscation of property for publicly calling for the violent overthrow of the Ukrainian system and for genocide. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
The SBU publication says that since the beginning of February 2022, Krasovsky supported a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, and also justified the crimes of the Russian military and called for the genocide of the Ukrainian people.
He distributed his “theses” through RT air and through telegram channels controlled by him.
Now “the criminal is hiding from justice abroad,” the SBU said in a statement. However, the Security Service is aware of his whereabouts and "is taking comprehensive measures to bring the perpetrator to justice."
In October 2022, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan announced that she had suspended cooperation with Krasovsky after his calls to “drown” and “burn” Ukrainian children, which he made on the air of his program. The host subsequently apologized for his words.
The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to check the statements of Krasnovsky, but no corpus delicti was found in them.
