The Perm court declared illegal the refusal to approve an action in memory of Boris Nemtsov

The Leninsky District Court of Perm declared illegal the decision of the city mayor's office to refuse to approve a rally in memory of the murdered politician Boris Nemtsov. Now the city administration must again consider the application for approval of the action.

A lawsuit against the Perm mayor's office was filed by the chairman of the regional branch of the People's Freedom Party, Mikhail Kasimov. Activists PARNAS and OGRA planned to hold a rally in memory of Boris Nemtsov on February 26 at the Yegoshikha cemetery at the monument to victims of political repression.

Activists sent a notice of the action to the mayor's office, but were refused. The administration justified this by saying that it was impossible to hold a rally in the declared location “due to work on the demolition and liquidation of dangerous trees, work on sanitary cleaning of green spaces,” and there were no other free places on this date in the city.

Murder of Boris Nemtsov

Boris Nemtsov is a former co-chairman of PARNAS. The politician was shot dead in Moscow on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge on the night of February 27-28, 2015. Every year on the day of his murder, memorial events are held in Russian cities.
Five people were convicted in the murder of Boris Nemtsov. Zaur Dadaev was sentenced to 20 years in a maximum security colony, Anzor Gubashev was sentenced to 19 years in a maximum security colony, Shadid Gubashev - to 16 years, Temirlan Eskerkhanov - to 14 years, Khamzat Bakhaev received 11 years in a maximum security colony. All of them were also sentenced to a fine of 100 thousand rubles.
According to the prosecution, the organizer of the murder was the driver of the battalion commander of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs “North” Ruslan Geremeev, Ruslan Mukhudinov. At the same time, the lawyers of the Nemtsov family believe that Geremeev himself and the inner circle of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, were involved in the crime.
