Transgender activist Katerina Myers was detained in Moscow. Before her transgender transition, she served in the FSB

In Moscow, after a search, transgender activist Katerina Myers was detained (before her transgender transition, she was FSB captain Alexander Chumakov). This was reported by TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak , the Republic publication and the Dozhd TV channel, citing friends of the detainee.

According to the journalists' interlocutors, police officers came to Myers' apartment early in the morning. During the search, books on LGBT topics, a bottle of hormones, Myers' diary and documents, including those related to her former place of work, were seized.

After the search, Myers was taken to the FSB investigative department. According to friends of the detainee, a criminal case was opened against her for attempting to leave Russia in December 2022. It is unknown under what article the case was initiated. The journalists' interlocutors also claim that Myers' phone was taken away - she has not been in touch for more than six hours.

Update. Katerina Myers reported that she was released from the FSB investigative department. “They just released me. I’m subscribed,” she wrote on her Telegram channel, without disclosing what she was suspected of.

At the end of 2021, Chita native Alexander Chumakov resigned from the FSB border service after 12 years of work. In January 2022, Katerina Myers announced her transgender transition.

In December, Myers tried to go to Mexico on vacation using new documents, but border guards refused to let her out. They explained that until 2026, Myers is prohibited from traveling outside Russia as a holder of state secrets.
