"In the same context with users." The social network VKontakte has prohibited employees from working remotely from outside Russia

The VKontakte company sent a letter to employees informing them that now they can only work remotely while in Russia.

“We keep this format [remote work], but we clarify that it is possible from the territory of Russia. Being in Russia is necessary in order to “be in the same context with users and understand their needs,” the letter says, a copy of which TASS has.

The company's press service also clarified that VKontakte will retain the possibility of remote work, but full-scale remote work "with all accesses is possible only from the territory of Russia."

At the end of December, it became known that United Russia had prepared a bill that would restrict remote work for Russians who had left the country. If the document is accepted, the government will have to determine the list of specialties to which they will not be allowed.

On February 22, the State Duma adopted a resolution recommending the Ministry of Digital Transformation to consider the issue of banning remote work for IT specialists who left Russia.
