The court imposed nine months of restriction of freedom on a Kazan citizen in the case of anti-war graffiti

The magistrate of court district No. 11 of the Sovetsky district of Kazan imposed nine months of restriction of freedom on Vladislav Vakhitov due to anti-war graffiti. This was reported by the human rights project “Network Freedoms”.

As part of the restriction of freedom, the Kazan resident was ordered not to leave his home at night and to coordinate trips outside the city with the criminal-executive inspection.

According to investigators, Vakhitov spray-painted 12 inscriptions against the war and President Vladimir Putin on houses in Kazan. In September 2022, a case was opened against him for vandalism motivated by political hatred (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code).

As human rights activists note, although the Kazan resident compensated for the costs of repainting, and the victims - representatives of management companies - agreed to dismiss the case, the prosecutor's office insisted on imposing punishment.
