The Ministry of Natural Resources excluded part of the protected zone from the Ladoga Schar

On February 28, the Ministry of Natural Resources published an order introducing a new provision on the Ladoga Schheers National Park - the document excludes about 3 thousand hectares of land from the Karelian Reserve.

We are talking in particular about the territory of the Peninsula of Rautalati. Greenpeace notes that the order was signed on February 15 - before the end of the public discussion of the draft Regulations. The organization considers this a violation of the law. The Greenpeace Park also considers the change in the boundaries of the park illegal.

Greenpeace does not agree with a change in the borders of the reserve, calling it destructive for local ecosystems. The organization will challenge the decision of the Ministry of Natural Resources in the Supreme Court.

Plans for the territory. Kommersant wrote that the little -known company “Institute of Ecology and Land Use” asked President of Russia Vladimir Putin to provide the territory of “Ladoga Schar” “for recreational activity” in the spring of 2022. Eco -activists called for vote against the exclusion of the peninsula from the national park on the site for public discussion. More than 6.2 thousand people voted against the decision, only 9 people supported it.

In February 2016, Karelian officials, with the support of the head of Karelia, Alexander Khudilinen, asked the Ministry of Natural Resources to remove 3.7 thousand hectares from Ladoga Schar. According to Novaya Gazeta, Rosneft objects were going to build objects of Rosneft in this territory.

In 2017, Ladoga Schheers recognized the National Park. The peninsula, which they want to exclude from the park, was also included in the Schar zone.

An eagle-burgut lives on the territory of the park and the Ladoga seals are rested, which are listed in the Red Book.

In addition, most of the peninsula is one of the few sparse forests preserved here. As noted in Greenpeace, they represent high environmental value.
