In the United States, two men were accused of transferring sanctioned aviation electronics to Russia

Two residents of the state of Kansas have been detained in the United States on charges of transferring aviation technology to Russia bypassing American export controls, according to the website of the US Department of Justice.

According to investigators, 59-year-old Cyril Buyanovsky and 55-year-old Douglas Robertson sold aircraft through their firm KanRus to companies that operate Russian-made aircraft, and also repaired broken electronics.

The FBI reported that KanRus has been supplying aviation equipment to Russia since the end of 2020. “In November 2020-February 2021, the defendants received aviation equipment from a Russian company for repair, including a computer processor with a sticker of the Federal Security Service,” the press release says.

After the start of the war in Ukraine, the United States banned the supply of aircraft equipment to Russian structures. On February 28, US authorities withheld a package containing Honeywell avionics ordered before the war and informed Buyanovsky and Robertson that a license was needed to send it.

However, the electronics were smuggled into Russia in May-July via Armenia and Cyprus, while other packages were reportedly delivered via Germany and the UAE.
