In Israel, rallies continue against judicial reform - the police applied light -school grenades and conducted an operation to free the wife of Netanyahu from the hairdresser

Since the beginning of January, Israel has been covered by mass protests-this happened immediately after the new government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, who had already served as prime minister from 1996 to 1999, as well as from 2009 to 2021, began to work. At least every Saturday, tens of thousands of people take to the central streets of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other large cities. Recently, large demonstrations have been held on business days: for example, the crowd gathered near the building of the Knesset (Parliament) of Israel on February 20, when the coalition adopted bills in the first reading, weakening the judicial system.

It was the reform of the judicial system that became the main trigger for the impressive part of the population - people are afraid that as soon as the authorities receive control over the court, this will put the end of democracy in the country. But there are other initiatives of the new government that raise questions from the opposition. For example, on Wednesday, the Knesset approved a bill in preliminary reading, which provides for the death penalty for terrorists. Acceleration "anarchists" with light -school grenades

On March 1, the inhabitants of Tel Aviv woke up from the cries of "Democracy!" Under the windows. Right in the city, large -scale processions began in the city. Some employers even allowed employees to take a day off or a break for several hours so that people have the opportunity to join rallies.

In some areas of the city, protesters blocked roads. At the intersection of the Azrieli towers (the center of Tel Aviva next to the highway), the police officer Meir Suiss threw a light-Shuman grenade into a crowd of people-the video recordings of what happened, removed from different angles, spread widely in social networks and caused great resonance.

The Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir said that he fully supports an officer, "standing in front of a group of indignant anarchists," who "threw fences and stones at the police, and also wanted to block the Ayalon highway."

Earlier, Ben-Gvir instructed the police to show “zero tolerance to the anarchists who attack law enforcement officials, break through the barriers and sow anarchy.”

“We are not accepted by violence against police officers, road flooring and gross violation of the laws of the country. The right to protest is not the right to anarchy, ”Netanyahu wrote on Twitter.

As the “details” notes , the protesters claim that grenades began to throw in them when people had already moved back at the request of the police.

Under the Ministry of Justice of Israel, there is a special, independent department (Mahash), which is investigating cases against police officers suspected of committing a crime. Now Mahash has begun verification on the use of light -school grenades against protesters.

In December, the police released the rules for the use of special equipment in case of riots. According to the documents, it is possible to use waterlets and light -school grenades only with the third level of violation of the order of four possible - when there is violent resistance to the police or the threat of bodily harm and damage to property of other citizens. At the same time, grenades are thrown at a distance of at least a meter from the demonstrators.

As a result of the hit of the light-school grenade at a rally at Azrieli, a 51-year-old man was injured in the ear.

“No one threw stones at the police,” he said.

In total, 11 people were injured in protests in Tel Aviv. According to Haaretz, 53 demonstrators detained in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Of these, 50 were questioned on suspicion of violation of public order and released , forbidding to participate in demonstrations for several days.

One person was charged with threats to a rally participant. According to the investigation, the man argued with the protesting on political topics, and then began to threaten him with a screwdriver.

Rescue of the wife of Netanyahu from a hairdresser

Sarah herself gave an interview to the Israeli channel 14, in which she stated that "if the protesters penetrated through the glass door, they would have killed her."

Of course, everyone is free to care for, where they want and when. And yet, why the need to make a hairstyle arose at Sarah precisely at the height of rallies against the actions of her spouse is a question.

In the evening, protests also took place in Jerusalem at the Netanyahu residence.

The bill on the death penalty for terrorists

While the liberal -minded public demanded democracy on the streets, the deputies of the Knesset approved a preliminary reading bill on the death penalty for terrorists. “For” 55 people voted, 9 - “against”. Most opposition representatives joined demonstrations against judicial reform in Tel Aviv and were not present at the vote. According to one version, politicians considered that their voices would still not change the situation, so it would be more productive to go out with protesters.

The initiator of the amendments was the deputy of the Knesset Limor Song Har-Melech (the right party "Jewish power"), whose husband was killed in a terrorist attack in 2003. The adoption of the death penalty was submitted to the coalition agreements between the Likud Netanyahu and the “Jewish power”.

The bill involves the introduction of the death penalty for persons who "deliberately or out of indifference causing death to an Israeli citizen for racist or hostile motives in relation to society and with the aim of causing harm to citizens and the country."

The Knesset website says that the killers “receive improved conditions in prisons, a salary from the Palestinian autonomy, and over time, many of them are exempted ahead of schedule for a particular transaction.”

Ahead of the law will still be discussed in a military-political office, which will formulate the final version of the voting document in the first reading. Terrorist attack in the village of Havara

The ministerial commission approved a new bill on the death penalty for terrorists on February 26. On that day, in the area of ​​the Palestinian village of Khavara, the terrorist shot a car with Israeli numbers, as a result of which two brothers were killed-22-year-old Gilel Menachem and 20-year-old Igal Yaakov, Janiva from the settlement of Ar-Brah in Samaria.

A few hours later, the settlers staged serious pogroms in the village in revenge for the murder of young people.
