The Naberezhnye Chelny court of Tatarstan sentenced web developer Ruslan Ganeev to 10 months of correctional labor with the withholding of 10% of wages to the state in the case of “fakes” about the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). The project reports that the court credited Ganeev with the period of detention from December 6, 2022 at the rate of 1 day in custody for 3 days of correctional labor. The man was released in the courtroom.
A case of “fake news” was opened against Ganeev because of two comments on VKontakte. According to investigators, Ganeev published comments in March 2022. The first of them said that “according to NATO intelligence, the Russian army is beginning to retreat from Kyiv,” and the second published an opinion on the number of civilians and military personnel killed in Ukraine.
As evidence of the unreliability of Ganeev’s judgments, the prosecution cited several video recordings of briefings of the Russian Ministry of Defense from February 24 to March 30, 2022.
In November 2022, the proceedings in the case were suspended due to the fact that the defendant. At the request of the assistant prosecutor, Ganeev was put on the wanted list - the man was found at his home, publication 161.ru. After that, on December 6, 2022, he was sent to pre-trial detention center-5 in the city of Chistopol for two months.
