“Down with the government of murderers!”: in Greece they protest against state migration policy

Hundreds of people protested in Athens against the migration policies of the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Among the protesters were refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. They held posters that read: “Stop pushbacks .” ! Down with the government of murderers!”, “The blood of the innocent calls for justice.”

Demonstrators blamed the government for the recent deaths of migrants at sea. On March 14, boats carrying people sank off the coast of Turkey after they were pushed back by Greek authorities. Seven people died.

In addition, protesters blamed Mitsotakis for the February 28 train accident that killed 57 people. Those who took to the streets chanted that the prime minister had “blood on his hands.”

Conservative Kyriakos Mitsotakis continues to strengthen Greece's borders. He announced that he would extend the steel fence along the land border with Turkey by another 35 kilometers.
