The Investigative Committee completed the investigation into the case against an Astrakhan resident who set fire to a pocket icon

The Investigative Committee for the Astrakhan Region has completed an investigation into the case of insulting the feelings of believers (part 1 of article 148 of the Criminal Code) against a 19-year-old Astrakhan resident who burned a pocket icon of the Mother of God on camera. This was reported by the press service of the department.

The materials of the case with the approved indictment were submitted to the court for consideration on the merits.

According to investigators, in January, a young man set fire to an icon near a shopping center in the Kirovsky district of Astrakhan. At the same time, he filmed a video of the burning on his phone and later distributed the record on a page on a social network. The video was published by the Tsargrad Society telegram channel. A pocket icon about 6×9 centimeters in size is burned in it - apparently, it is made of paper and laminated.

On February 7, activists of the "human rights center" "Tsargrad" appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs "to search for and bring to justice" an Astrakhan citizen - he was detained with the participation of FSB officers the next day. The initiation of a case against the young man became known on February 9.
