The President of Moldova published a decree on renaming the state language from Moldavian to Romanian

Moldovan President Maia Sandu signed and published a decree on renaming the state language from Moldovan to Romanian. It is reported by Stiri.md.

“Those who have been telling us for decades that we, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, speak the “Moldovan” language and not Romanian, have only one goal: to divide us. Because by dividing the people, it is easier to subdue and control it. A divided people is not a single force that can defend itself. Those who tried to divide us fought not because of linguistics, but because of how to keep Moldova in the eternal national quarrel,” the head of state said.

According to Sandu, "the Romanian language should and can become a catalyst for strengthening the society" of Moldova and Romania, whose peoples can build a "common future in the European Union."

Last week, the Moldovan Parliament approved the relevant law. According to the amendment, the words "Moldovan language" in all legislative acts will be replaced by the words "Romanian language". If the documents refer to Moldova, then the phrases “state language”, “official language”, “native language” will also be replaced by “Romanian”.
