The examination found Colonel Shendakov to have “persistent delusions”; he faces compulsory treatment

The psychological and psychiatric examination recognized the retired colonel and activist Mikhail Shendakov as in need of compulsory medical measures. This was reported in the telegram channel of the Moscow City Duma deputy Yevgeny Stupin.

Experts call Shendakov's "persistent delusional ideas" the basis for compulsory treatment. At the same time, as the deputy notes, the activist did not show signs of alcohol, drug or other addiction, and when he was a juror, the court had no questions about his mental state. The Colonel could face being sent to a psychiatric hospital.

Shendakov is appealing the conclusions of the examination, the meeting is scheduled for 10:00 on March 28 in the Moscow Regional Court.

The examination was carried out as part of a new criminal case against Shendakov. On January 31, the man was detained, the next day his house was searched. against him A case was opened for incitement to extremism (Article 280 of the Criminal Code) because of the video in social networks. In the video, according to the expert, there are “calls for violent actions against law enforcement officers and government officials.”

Now he is in SIZO-2 in Volokolamsk, Moscow Region.

• On February 1, the court replaced Mikhail Shendakov with a suspended sentence of two and a half years of real imprisonment because of the video on Youtube “Surkov promised war to Donbass!”. In early 2021, Shendakov was found guilty under articles on inciting hatred or enmity (part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code) and on public calls for extremism on the Internet (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code), since in the video he allegedly calls on viewers to violent actions against FSB officers.
• The court is also considering replacing Shendakov with another suspended sentence for a real term: he was asked for three years in prison because of a video with a joke about a Russian guard and a surgeon : after the joke, the activist, according to him, "suffered" and he suggested that doctors "cut these creatures' eggs ". In November 2021, Shendakov was found guilty under the article on inciting hatred or enmity (part 2 of article 282 of the Criminal Code).
