Zelensky: Ukraine lacks weapons and ammunition to launch counteroffensive

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky says that Ukraine cannot begin a counteroffensive campaign due to a lack of weapons and ammunition, reports Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun.

Zelensky said, “We’re waiting to receive ammunition from our allies. Until then, we can’t launch a counteroffensive.” He added that the situation in eastern Ukraine remains difficult, in part because the Russian side uses three times as much artillery daily as Ukraine.

Zelensky also stressed Ukraine’s need for additional support from its allies, including the need for fighter jets.
