In the US, 26 people died due to tornadoes

A deadly tornado killed 26 people in Mississippi and Alabama, local media reported.

American meteorologist Bob Dilen watches live as a tornado demolishes the small town of Emory in Mississippi.

Small towns in rural areas were hit the hardest. Falling trees knocked down power lines, leaving tens of thousands of homes without power.

The town of Rolling Fork, home to about two thousand people, was almost completely wiped off the face of the earth. "Our city is gone, but we're holding on," Mayor Eldridge Walker told CNN.

The tornado traveled approximately 160 kilometers, destroying houses and trees along its path.
