The court in St. Petersburg forbade a quote from Sartre "Each anti -communist - bastard"

The court in St. Petersburg forbade quoting in Russia the phrase of the French philosopher, Nobel laureate Jean-Paul Sartre "Each anti-communist-bastard." The statement found signs of excitement of hatred and enmity, the correspondent of the North Reali reports. The process in the case lasted about ten months.

The administrative case of the initiation of hatred and hostility due to the quotation of the writer was opened in September 2020 at the suit of the district prosecutor's office. This was the first case of the punitiveness of the citation of the world classics in Russia.

Initially, a member of the City Committee of the St. Petersburg branch of the Communist Party Alexei Filippov took place on him. The reason for drawing up the protocol was the repost of the communist in VKontakte with a photo of a man in glasses and a quote "Any anti -communist is a bastard ...". It was made in 2017.

Lawyers asked the court to translate the complete statement of Sartre. It sounds like this: "The last links were torn, my vision has changed: the anti -communist is a dog (dog, paskuda), and I will never renounce this point of view again."

The protection of the communist insisted that the "bastard" and "paskuda" are the words-synonyms, so Filippov’s post is scientific citation. The prosecutor’s office in the decision of the case wrote that the authorship of the disputed phrase is only “attributed” to the philosopher.

As a result, in January last year, Filippov was fined 10 thousand rubles. He did not admit his guilt. “This is a quote from the Nobel laureate. Why should I be guilty of here? We can go so far. We have different quotes and the Marxists and Lenin. There are such quotes. If we put people or fine people for them, you know ... We can go far,” he said.

Back in 2020, the prosecutor’s office turned to the E -Center with a request to identify all persons who published this quote from Sartre on social networks. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs discovered 28 people who placed it in Russia, and another 15 - abroad.

By the last court session, the number of defendants was reduced to six. This is due to the fact that most of the sites on which the quote was posted were deleted or were blocked by Roskomnadzor for other reasons.

Filippov himself led the court out of the case at the penultimate meeting. The communist deleted the record from his page and the prosecutor's office decided to withdraw claims to him.
