The heirs of Tuva Jansson forbade the use of images of mummy trolls in Russia

The Finnish company Moomin Characters, which owns the rights to the works of the writer and artist Touve Jansson, no longer issues licenses to use the images of mummies in Russia, and also refused to extend existing agreements. This was reported by VPOST with reference to the company representative.

According to the publication, Moomin Characters made such a decision in connection with the sanctions imposed on Russia because of the war in Ukraine, as well as with the company's own position.

The consequences of this decision have already encountered the largest Moscow shopping center "Afimall", which was forced to cancel the children's holiday "Spring Festival of Moomi-Trolli".

Moomi-Trolls are the central characters of the Tove Jansson books series about fairy-tale creatures leading the human lifestyle. Books about mummies are translated into more than 50 languages, and cartoons are shown in more than 120 countries.

In 1958, Tuva Jansson and her brother Lars created Moomin Characters, now the company is managed by family members Jansson. According to the Moomin Characters license, among other things, porcelain mummies are produced-one of the main export products of Finland.
