NtechLab founders Alexander Kabakov and Artem Kukharenko left the company. This happened because of disagreements about working in Russia. The company is known for creating a facial recognition system.
They told Reuters about their decision. The reason for the disagreements was the question of the future fate of the company. The creators wanted NtechLab to stop all work in Russia and take employees out of the country. The company's management wanted to continue working in Russia. Rostec holding has been among the owners of the company since 2018.
According to the founders of the company, they began discussions about the termination of projects in Russia after the poisoning of Alexei Navalny in August 2020.
“It became clear that the country was moving towards disaster, although no one could have imagined that the country would start a war,” Artem Kukharenko told Reuters reporters.
Kukharenko and Kabakov are not in Russia. One of the founders of the company left the country in December 2021, the second - in March 2022. In an interview with Reuters, they said they had signed a petition against the war.
