The former editor-in-chief of a media outlet owned by Prigozhin left Russia for Spain. She received a visa despite sanctions

Ksenia Parfenova, who headed the editorial office of Evgeny Prigozhin's Politika Segodnya, was able to obtain a visa to Spain despite the sanctions. They were introduced against the Patriot media group, to which the media belongs.

According to Rotunda, citing an unnamed former employee of the holding, Parfenova became editor-in-chief at Politika Segodnya in the fall of 2022. This happened immediately after the start of mobilization, when the former editor-in-chief resigned and “urgently left” for Kazakhstan.

Parfenova has been working in Prigozhin’s structures since 2014 and started with a “troll factory” in Olgino. Having received the position of editor-in-chief, according to the source of the Rotunda, Ksenia Parfenova was “not delighted” with the work, but, like all colleagues, “justified herself by the fact that everywhere and all journalism is like that.”

In March, Parfenova wrote a letter of resignation and left for Spain, which she announced on her social networks. On the Patriot website, she is still listed as a member of the coordinating council of the media group.

“In the early autumn of 2022, a picture came to my mind out of nowhere: I’m sitting like this on the beach in Barcelona in an orange-orange sweatshirt with curls (at that time I didn’t have orange in my wardrobe, hair on my head for curls too, visas no, there is no money for Barcelona), ”Ksenia Parfenova writes on social networks.

In mid-February 2023, the girl applied for a Spanish student visa, providing a certificate of employment. According to Parfenova, when the EU imposed sanctions against the Patriot group on February 25, she already “mentally said goodbye to the picture.” On March 1, she was invited to receive a ready-made visa. “Unbelievable, but they did!” she wondered.

At the beginning of 2022, Parfenova was already abroad. Posting a photo from Turkey, she signed: “Under this bright photo from sunny Istanbul, I want to say that I love my country and hate the state.”
