Türkiye approved Finland's entry into NATO. This was the last alliance country whose consent had to be obtained

The General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament ratified the protocol on Finland's accession to NATO on the evening of March 30, Anadolu reports.

A few days ago, Finland's entry into NATO was supported by the Hungarian parliament. After this, Türkiye remained the only country - a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, which had to approve Finland's entry into it.

• Finland and Sweden announced they planned to join NATO in May 2022, shortly after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The countries submitted a joint application to join the alliance.
• By the beginning of February, the protocol on the admission of new members to the North Atlantic Alliance had been ratified by all NATO member countries, except Hungary and Turkey. The authorities of both countries stated that they do not object to Finland joining the alliance, but are not ready, for various reasons, to support Sweden's application.
• NATO currently includes 30 countries. A new country can join the alliance only if its application is approved by all NATO members.
