The court refused to suspend the process of transferring property of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra from the possession of the UOC-MP under the control of the National Reserve

The Commercial Court of Kiev refused the requirements of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) of the Moscow Patriarchate of interim measures in the claim for invalidating unilateral termination of the lease agreement of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Ukrainian Pravda reports with reference to the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Alexander Tkachenko and the court decision .

Representatives of the UOC MP demanded an immediate suspension of the process of acceptance and transfer of the property of Lavra. Thus, the lawsuit can be considered after leaving the Lavra of the Religious Organization of the UOC -MP.

At the same time, the court adopted a lawsuit of the monastery, which occupies part of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, to recognize the decisions of the termination of the contract of the property of the Lavra. A preliminary court session in this case was scheduled for April 26, said the lawyer of the monastery, Archpriest Nikita Chekman.

The reserve "Kiev-Pechersk Lavra" asked the Kyiv police to initiate a case of seizing its property. Then the Ukrainian authorities recognized the order of 2013 on the transfer of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra for free use of the UOC.

The Commission created by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine on the acceptance of state property in the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra could not begin to work on March 30.

The parishioners of the monastery of the Moscow Patriarchate, located in the lower territory of the Lavra, blocked the members of the commission and did not let them into the buildings. In early March, a special interdepartmental commission revealed 36 unauthorized buildings on the territory of Lavra, built by representatives of the UOC MP without approval by law.

In his evening appeal to the nation on March 29, the President of Ukraine noted that these days important steps are being taken to "strengthen the spiritual security" of the country, recalling that Lavra was "the center of Moscow manipulations on the topic of religion."

For his part, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexei Danilov promised that there would be no forced eviction of the pro -Moscow monks - any power actions in the territory of the ancient shrine of Ukraine will be used by “enemy propaganda”. According to his forecast, the monks who decided to stay in the UOC MP will gradually leave the monastery themselves.
