The Kiev-Svyatoshinsky District Court of the Kyiv region in absentia sentenced the Russian military to 12 years in prison under an article on violation of the laws and customs of war (part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This was reported in the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

The corresponding verdict also appeared in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions of Ukraine. The name of the accused is not specified. At the same time, the court decision says that he is a native of the village of Tsagan-Ola of the Agin Buryat Autonomous Okrug.
It is alleged that the man was mocking civilian Ukrainians when they tried to leave the war zone. The defendant, while intoxicated and threatening firearms, stopped a car that was part of a motorcade with evacuating civilians, the press release said.
“He ordered the spouses to get out of the car and forced the man to take off his clothes above the waist. Humilitating his human dignity, the occupier hit the victim with the butt on the head and wanted to shoot him. However, he did not do this for reasons independent of his will, ”the Prosecutor General’s office claims.
This episode occurred in early March 2022 near the village of Buzov, Kiev-Svyatoshinsky district of the Kyiv region, when some settlements of the region were under the occupation of Russian troops, the department said.
The verdict states that then the soldier was captured, but from April 13, he was returned to Russia as part of the exchange of prisoners of war.
In March, the court in the Sumy regionsentenced the Russian soldier to ten years in prison in the case of violation of the laws and customs of war (part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court found that the soldier took smartphones and cash from three people. Separately, it is noted that he took himself "only expensive gadgets." The office of the Prosecutor General did not report whether the verdict was sentenced in absentia or the defendant was present at the meeting.
In September 2022, the court in the Chernihiv region sentenced the commander of the tank of the 35th separate guards motorized rifle brigade as part of the 41st combined arms army of the Russian Federation by 8.5 years in prison under the same article. According to the prosecution, in early March, the man attacked a resident of the village of Halyavin in the Chernihiv region and robbed him, threatening to shoot from the machine gun. Later, the tanker was captured.
