Stoltenberg: Finland will become a member of NATO April 4

Finland will become a member of NATO on Tuesday, April 4. This was stated by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.

"This is a historical week. Tomorrow we will welcome Finland among members of the North Atlantic Alliance," Stoltenberg said at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels. It is quoted by the New Gazeta Europe.

“We will first raise the Finnish flag at NATO headquarters. It will be a good day for the security of Finland, North and all of NATO,” he told reporters, adding that it will become safer in Sweden.

Neutral Finland and Sweden decided to join the NATO bloc after the start of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine. Most alliance countries welcomed this decision. Against opposed Hungary and Türkiye.

The parliament of Hungary ratified Finland's entry into NATO on March 27. A similar decision of the Turkish parliament was recently approved by President Recep Erdogan.
