The criminal case of 37-year-old programmer from Kamyshin Pavel Magalyas, who is accused of setting the city hall on fire, was sent to court. “Caucasian Knot” writes about this.
The man was charged under articles of attempted intentional damage to someone else's property by arson (Part 3 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code) and hooliganism (Part 2 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code), his lawyer Vitaly Grigoriev told the publication.
Magalyas was detained in September 2022 in the city of Kamyshin, Volgograd region. According to investigators, the man threw two burning Molotov cocktails at the door of the city administration. The local administration reported the arson of the city hall by unidentified persons on the same day, noting that the damage was “minor.” The fire was extinguished before firefighters arrived.
On March 6, the first hearing in the Magalyas case was held in the Kamyshinsky City Court. On the same day, the man’s stay in custody was extended, but it is unknown until what date.
Magalyas led a socially active lifestyle, was a musician and in the past served as a preacher for the city’s Lutheran community, and also openly expressed pacifist views, writes the local publication Infocam.
