The Moscow prosecutor's office will check Valery Meladze for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Moscow prosecutor's office will check the Russian singer Valery Meladze for funding the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is reported by TASS with reference to sources in the authorities.

“Currently, the Moscow prosecutor’s office has been entrusted with conducting an audit against V. Sh. Meladze in order to provide financial assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the agency’s interlocutor said, noting that such an order came from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The verification of the singer was initiated by the head of the public organization "Federal Project for Security and Combating Corruption" Vitaly Borodin. He wrote a letter to Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov, in which he said that Meladze had repeatedly criticized the war in Ukraine, and also uttered the slogan "Ukrainian nationalists" during a corporate party in the UAE.

In early January 2023, Valery Meladze answered “Glory to the Heroes!” at a concert in Dubai! to the slogan "Glory to Ukraine!" uttered by one of the spectators. After that, a number of pro-Kremlin politicians and public figures demanded to punish the artist.

At the end of March, it became known that Meladze's concerts were canceled in Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Barnaul, Kemerovo and Rostov-on-Don.
