Musicians from Bakal were sentenced to 19 years in prison due to the arson of a military registration table

The prosecutor's office demands that the defendants in the case of arson of a military registration table in Bakala (Chelyabinsk region), Alexey Nuriev and Roman Nasryev, be sentenced to 19 years in prison. This was reported by the Solidarity Zone.

At the request of the state prosecutor, the men must spend the first four years in prison , the rest in a maximum security colony.

According to investigators, on the night of October 11, 2022, they broke a window on the first floor of the city administration building, where the military registration desk was located, and threw two Molotov cocktails there. The fire was extinguished by a watchman before firefighters arrived. The men were detained the same day. Nasryev did not deny his participation in the arson and explained his actions as a protest against the war and mobilization.

Because of this, a case was initially opened against the musicians under the article of deliberate destruction of property, but later the charge was reclassified to a more serious article - the commission of a terrorist act by a group of persons by prior conspiracy (clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code). In November, a second criminal case was opened against the young people - under the article on training in terrorist activities (Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code).

In court, both admitted the fact of arson, but rejected charges of terrorism and teaching it. Nasryev stressed that he did not want to harm anyone with his action. “I just wanted to show that in our city there is disagreement with mobilization and the “special military operation.” I wanted to convey my position of disagreement in this way, I wanted my voice to be heard,” he explained.

The accused have been in pre-trial detention since October 13. Before their arrest, they were members of the post-punk band Room32. Roman Nasryev is a senior sergeant of the Bakala Department of Internal Affairs, and Alexey Nuriev worked as the commander of the fire and rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Both have children.
